Mar Y&Y: Spring Contrasts

This month’s piece is inspired by the quiet tension between winter and spring. A soft white veil meets an explosion of color — like the moment when snow begins to give way to blossoms. It’s a reminder that we carry these seasons within us too: stillness and growth, silence and expression.

Alongside this piece, I’m also sharing two small snowy landscapes with cherry blossoms, a tribute to the first anniversary of my trip to Japan and the beauty of flowers blooming even in winter.

Magic in my soul

…as well as in yours! One of my favorite color combinations brings together magenta, soft orange, fresh green, and turquoise. Yet what truly makes them come alive is the contrast with pure white. Suddenly the colors feel brighter, bolder, almost electric. I love this tension — it reminds me of us as people: sometimes an explosion of energy and excitement, and sometimes perfectly content to sink into the couch and watch a quiet movie. Both states belong to the same story.

Mini Landscapes

Two small landscapes to celebrate a very special memory: one year ago, I had the rare luck of visiting Japan right at the height of the cherry blossom season. Anyone who has experienced it knows that the beauty is almost surreal — delicate petals floating through the air like soft snow. In these paintings, I kept the palette intentionally light and restrained, mirroring the stillness of Japan. Yet the shimmering blossoms bring a gentle intensity, a reminder that even the most subtle colors can carry a powerful presence.
